A Bachelor's in Nursing will give you in-depth training in the elements of nursing and applicable sciences.

You will study many factors associated with patient care, including drug administration, information systems and medical technology, patient psychology, healthcare laws and regulations, and more. Case studies and hands-on experience working alongside other nurses in the hospital setting are also implemented. Supplementing these studies will be an examination of the biological sciences of chemistry, physics, and various biology classes on human anatomy and physiology. These will afford you a more thorough understanding of how the body works and fights disease. Strong teamwork and communication skills will also be developed.

By completion of the coursework you will have garnered extensive training and experience in the nursing profession, ranging from technical medical knowledge to actual patient interaction. You will also possess a solid foundation in the realm of biological sciences.

This major puts you ahead of the curve in the nursing industry. Many nursing students only complete nursing school, but do not get their bachelor's. A bachelor's will give you a more well rounded education as well as a significant increase in salary. Job/careers with this major center on practicing nursing in a variety of areas, including pediatrics, ER, critical care, home healthcare, mental health care, geriatrics, and more.

Further education at the master's level in nursing affords opportunities in hospital management positions. Other master's degrees in business disciplines can qualify you for upper management positions in the healthcare industry or business in general.
