A Bachelor's in Education/Elementary Education opens the door for you to influence the lives young people through the field of teaching.

You will study the basics of a wide range of subjects so that you will have a comprehensive knowledge base to be able to relay to your students. Significant attention will also be given to child psychology and development and effective teaching strategies. Another large portion of this major is devoted to time spent in the actual classroom practicing and gaining legitimate experience beyond bookwork. Strong communication and leadership skills are developed as well. The goal is to make you into an effective and knowledgeable leader of the learning and development of younger children. Laws and regulations regarding the education industry are also covered.
By completion of the coursework you will have at your fingertips a broad understanding of how the school system functions and your role in it. You will possess a broad knowledge base both of subject matter and of how to communicate most effectively and efficiently to younger children.

This major is probably the best preparation you can have for a career in teaching younger children. After completion of this major, you will also be required to take another year for teacher credentialing before you are allowed to teach full-time. Further education at the master's and Ph.D. levels qualifies you to teach at the collegiate level and/or conduct research.
