The Master of Arts in Education/Curriculum and Instruction-English and Language Arts Education program is focused on strengthen the instructional skills of educators who are strongly interested in English and the Language Arts.

Students will also receive special training that will focus on refining their curriculum writing skills. This aspect of the majors allows teachers to practice writing effective curriculum that will help them focus on their teaching points relevant to the fields of English and Language Arts. The crux of the MAE/CIELAE program is helping teachers study instructional and educational methods and theories. This will help students better understand how to portray what they are trying to communicate. You can expect to learn the key aspects of classroom communication along with general learning and knowledge theories.

After completing this major you will be an expert in preparing efficient curriculum specific to English and Language Art classes. Furthermore, you will have explored the different methods and theories of instruction and evaluated which method is best for you. This allows you to become a better instructor as you can identify the problems occurring in your classroom and address them accordingly. Most graduates use this degree to strengthen their own teaching abilities and rarely move onto a different career. Some, however, do pursue higher education and use this diploma as a stepping stone to teaching at the collegiate level.
